Programs

Our cheerful classrooms are well-stocked with the age-appropriate tools needed to provide your child with a high level of achievement. Our programs are balanced with teacher-facillitated and child-initiated activities with well defined learning centers. Notes go home daily to keep you informed of your child's day and progress reports are completed twice each year. When working with young children, it is important they have a consistent daily schedule. A consistent daily schedule allows children to learn and to anticipate what activity is next, and this will provide the children with a sense of security. Please keep in mind the schedule is a guide, because when working with children, one must be adaptable to the children's needs.

Each of our programs offers developmentally appropriate activities that allow all children to move towards their potential. The daily activities that we have planned match the children's ever-changing needs. Every child is unique in their learning abilities. There is a separate curriculum for each program which meets each child's educational, social, emotional needs and level of development.  This is accomplished by providing age appropriate activities that are hands on, fun & exciting.

Harmony has an October 31 cutoff date to be in keeping with school districts in many surrounding localities. Children matriculate on a yearly basis each September.

Infants

Infant care is provided for children starting at 6 weeks of age. Our infants are on their own individual schedule. We are working on your child's development throughout the year. Studies done by developmental specialists have shown that there are four basic development areas: moving and exploring, interacting and feeling, communicating and talking, thinking and learning. Our program is well rounded and will cover all of these areas along with lots of love, cuddling, music, playing and emotional warmth and safety.  Your child's development is reviewed and recorded utilizing Kidex for Infants (Developmental Milestones).

Tiny Tots

A partnership between parents and Tiny Tot's staff is important and is best for each child in our class. Throughout the year in Tiny Tots, we will be assessing your child's development. This will be done through a curriculum program called Kidex for One (Developmental Milestones). We will be working with the children on language, communication, fine and gross motor skills, hand/eye coordination, self-help development, creativity and much, much more. These objectives will be accomplished through fun, educational, hands-on activities that will encourgage your child's own development at his/her own growth.

Toddlers

Toddlers are special. They are no longer Tiny Tots, but they are not yet Young Preschoolers. Toddlers are curious and anxious to learn about their physical surroundings. They explore their independence and are actively acquiring language and sharing skills. They learn by watching, helping, and doing things by themselves. Our staff works in conjunction with our parents on the task of toilet training, which is aided by our child-size bathroom facilities! We offer a variety of educational hands-on activities to meet the rapidly changing needs and interests of very young children.

At Harmony, toddlers are given the opportunity to explore their surroundings, interests and make choices. They are stimulated to learn new words and use them in many ways. They not only learn about themselves but also about others and sharing.

Young Preschool

Our Young Preschool classes use the "Let's Begin with the Letter People" curriculum. It is a core program with a comprehensive curriculum organized around themes that integrate knowledge across all subject areas. Our program is designed to create a developmentally appropriate environment for your child.

Social interaction with their peers is also very important to our three year old children. Since children are sensory learners, we provide hands-on experiences in both small and large group activities. Pre-academic skills are developed in language, creativity, math, science, writing, social, emotional, physical and self-help development.

Preschool

Preschool is a very important milestone in your young child's life, it is a time when they are fine-tuning their skills, both socially and educationally, for Kindergarten and the beginning of their formal schooling. At Harmony, our preschool curriculum encompasses intellectual thinking with stimulating and challenging activities in the areas of language development, handwriting, math, reading readiness, science, social awareness, cooking, Spanish, computers and music and movement. Preschool children are really becoming independent thinkers. At Harmony, a child's independence is encouraged and supported through our well-developed and age-appropriate curriculum.

Kindergarten

Kindergarten is the start of your child's educational career. It is extremely important to make sure your child's foundation is rooted in educational and social strengths. At Harmony, the Kindergarten class consists of a maximum enrollment of 15 children. Our low student/teacher ratio allows the children to receive more individualized attention during the crucial learning time of reading, writing and math. At Harmony, the Kindergarten program develops analytical as well as creative abilities through math, reading, language, writing, science, social awareness, computers, cooking and Spanish. Your child receives a full nine hour day of care while in Harmony's Kindergarten. Harmony's unique program allows your child to enjoy social stimulation while receiving a strong educational foundation.
